I was wondering if a traveling letterbox might work? If I plant the
box, and write the clues. The next letterboxer that finds the box
then plants it in another location. informs the last planter that it
has been moved, so he can remove the clues. and the next person finds
the box puts out his clues. and so on down the line. Could this work?

It certainly could work theoreticaly but my experience is that any
plan that depends on people following instructions is doomed to
failure at some point. On the other hand, nothing ventured-nothing
gained. Give it a try.
